Prayers for July 29, 2018 – Time After Pentecost

With the words “Lord, in your kindness, ” you are invited to respond:

 HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Grounded in the love of Christ, we pray for the life of the church, the world, and people in need.

A moment of silence

Loving God of flesh and blood, you call us to feast with you at the table. Strengthen each of us here today that we reach out in love, faith, and service in the church and in our community.

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Creator God, you call us to marvel at the abundance and diversity of our universe. As we depend on the harvest of gardens and croplands, we pray for sunshine and rain in good measure. Help us to share food with generosity and fairness in a world still riddled by lack of food and water.

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

God of diversity, you have imbued people everywhere with unique cultures and faiths. Make these differences opportunities for dialogue and sharing rather than animosity, conflicts, and wars. May we hold up the model of hospitality that Mary, Martha, and Lazarus extended to Jesus.

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

God of community, remind us to wear caring and generosity like a multi-coloured robe in church and within the wider community. Teach us patience and listening skills, that we might connect deeply with others–whether they are like us or different from us.

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Join us with Christians in all times and places, and build our connections with them. Bless our continuing communion with our partner Anglican Church of Canada, the Bishop in your region, the Roman Catholic Church, the Bishop in your region and our own Bishop Greg. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Shepherd of the Valley in Langley and Pastor Kristen Steele and Hope Lutheran Shared Ministry in Mackenzie and Pastor Henry Dunbar.

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

God of challenges and comfort, we look to you for hope and strength when we meet troubles in body, mind, and spirit. Guide us through our black nights of the soul, for none of us lives life without them.  We pray especially for those we name aloud or in our hearts.

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Lord, in your kindness

HEAR US AND BLESS US.

Offer your hands to us in the holy dance of the Trinity, in the name of the Christ.

AMEN.
