Prayers for July 14, 2019 – Time After Pentecost

Thinking on the paschal rhythm of death into life, we pray for all believers, the world, and those in need.

A moment of silence

To the words “Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes,” you are invited to respond “Hear us, we pray.”

Join us with all people of faith and with all those who seek truth to guide their days. Make our church a community in which we rejoice together and work together for good. Let Sunday mornings be a time of celebration and of challenging insights. Move us to reclaim daily contemplative prayer as a touchstone of growing in faith.

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Walk with feet poised to feel the contours of the land beneath them. Turn our walks into intense observation of the heavens, the forests, oceans and streams, gardens and fields bursting forth with food. When we hear seals bark and birds sing, renew our devotion to preserve the resources of our earth.

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Raise up among us lawyers and advocates who seek fairness and justice. Help us to confront local, regional, and national governments of the priorities greater than political survival and expediency. Bring matters of peace, shared prosperity, and justice for both the well-heeled and the downtrodden to their attention without ceasing.

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Bless the members of the body of Christ gathered here, and those who do good works among us, those who are visiting and those who are absent. Attune us all to the Holy Spirit, Divine Wisdom, that we never give in to the temptation to settle for too little fullness in life.

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Bless those who feel shame and blame, and heal them. Teach us all to trust—you, ourselves, and others—in times of illness and personal crises. Remind all those who grieve the loss of people they loved and the physical losses we experience in life. We pray especially for those we name aloud or silently in our hearts.

(include those listed in the bulletin for prayers)

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Open our hearts in dialogue with other faith traditions, especially that with the Anglican Church of Canada and Bishop (name bishop in your region), the Roman Catholic churches and Bishop (name bishop in your area) and our own Bishop Greg. We offer prayers for the churches of our synod, especially St. Peter’s Shared Ministry in Hudson’s Hope and Christ in Kelowna and Pastor Patricia Giannelia

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

Change us through faith into our true identity, which is love. Enable us to learn and grow and change until love becomes our true character, our very name under the heavens. Let us discover that we find the meaning life together, one with another.

Transform our vision until we see through God’s eyes. Hear us, we pray.

All blessing to you, who hears all our prayers and supplications. AMEN.
