Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and The Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) gathered in Calgary last week for a joined assembly. They worshiped, shared, and learned together. They also spent time separately dealing with church business.
Some of the highlights of the assembly include:
- Decision to include the Moravian Church in North American to full communion with Lutherans and Anglicans
- ELCIC Special Convention received reports from Task Force Addressing Ableism; Task Force on Addressing Racism, White Supremacy, and Issues of Racial Injustice; Task Force on Carbon Neutrality; and Task Force Addressing Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transfobia.
- Adoption of Resolution on Peace and Justice in Palestine and Israel
- Affirmation of partnership between ELCIC and ACC, as well as Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and The Episcopal Church (TEC).
