The Canadian Council of Churches invites congregations and ecumenical communities to take part in World Day of Prayer 2026 - a global movement of united Christian prayer observed in more than 120 countries in 90 language. On March 6, the worldwide observance will begin in Samoa, as prayers in native languages travel across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas -concluding some 38 hours later in American Samoa. The result is a continuous wave of prayer encircling the globe, lifting up themes of justice, peace and hope.
In Canada, communities are encouraged to select a date and time that best suits their local context. While many churches mark World Day of Prayer on the first Friday in March, flexibility allows congregations to participate in ways that complement other services and schedules. All are welcome and encouraged to join in this meaningful expression of Christian unity.
