The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada’s (ELCIC) National and Synod Bishops write to the members of the ELCIC following recent attacks on Iran. In their message, the bishops lift up the witness of Bishop Imad Haddad and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL), expressing sorrow over the escalation of violence, reaffirming the church’s call to peacemaking, and encouraging prayer, advocacy, and concrete action in solidarity with partners in the Holy Land and across the Middle East. The National and Synod Bishops have also written to the bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, sending their care and prayers as the ELCA bishops offer their “faithful witness in [their] context and current realities on the United States of America.”
