The Office of the Bishop appoints participants on the pulpit supply list. Current ELCIC rostered, or retired leaders wishing to be on the pulpit supply list must be in contact with the Office of the Bishop and be prepared to submit a current background check and attend regular boundaries training sessions offered by the synod. The BC Synod Bishop will evaluate the list over time and make necessary changes in conversation with participants. 

 

Pastoral Supply Compensation Guidelines

(Updated September 2025)

Pastoral supply follows the following schedule:

One service - $285 plus mileage @ the current CRA rate (2025 - $.72 per km). 
Two services (same day) in the same congregation - $335 plus mileage @ the current CRA rate (2025 - $.72 per km). 

A second service in a different language would be paid an additional 50% for the first service of the day.
