Four years after the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, pastors from Lutheran, Anglican, Ukrainian Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic, and United Church communities will gather with the wider public for an ecumenical service of prayer dedicated to peace, remembrance, and hope.

Father Mykhailo Ozorovych of the Ukrainian Holy Eucharist Cathedral (New Westminster) will serve as guest preacher. The service will also feature the Ukrainian vocal ensemble Družba, singing the classic anthem “Prayer for Ukraine” by Mykola Lysenko. In recognition of the truth that no one is free until all are free, the service will conclude with an expression of solidarity with the people of Iran, as the Iranian Vanchoir performs “My Country, I Will Build You Again” with text by renowned Persian poet Simin Behbahani and music by composer Amir Mir Ebadi.

Participants will have an opportunity to make a donation in support of children’s rehabilitation camps in Ukraine.

All are warmly invited to attend and to join in prayer, song, and solidarity.
