Congregational Constitution and Bylaws

Congregational Constitutions and Bylaws require regular maintenance and upgrading.  For instance, the recent pandemic necessitated changes to how we attend our AGM and Council meetings, and how we vote.  To help with the process of review and approval of any changes, a guideline for BC Synod has been created. You can find it here.

The Government of BC made some changes to the Societies Act last May and published the attached guide to the changes. Highlighted are the changes that are most likely to interest you.

You can access the entire Societies Act here.

Churches explore change for a variety of reasons. We appreciate that each church is unique in their transition journey, but none is alone in facing these many challenges and opportunities. Charitus interviewed and surveyed ELCIC congregants and leaders from across the county about their experiences and congregational transitions. The resources offer stories, insights, and advice to inspire your congregation throughout your redevelopment resources.
